Hair so on peak fleek that you want to take a 100 selfies to capture the moment!
A good hair day doesn’t just boost your self-esteem as you sashay down the street with your personal theme song playing in your head, it also gives you a little pep in your step and a sparkle to your smile. Two things you definitely want to have with you this summer!
With the help of celebrity hairstylist Kim Kimble, Kelly Rowland is showing us how to channel our inner hair idols with a Mane Addicts pictorial.
The gorgeous singer, who’s never been afraid to switch it up (but prefers short hair with bangs), transformed into a big-haired Diana Ross for the hair-inspiring shoot.
Kim drew inspiration from one of The Boss’ album inserts, where her hair was loose and messy.
So the inspiration for the looks are other iconic artists, like the first look we did capturing Diana Ross, who back in the 80’s had that big, curly, textured mane. There’s one album cover I had that wasn’t her typical tight curl, it was more like a loose, messy, lion’s mane type of hair so I’m using that as my inspiration.
Kelly also channelled the ponytail goddess herself, Sade! Kim advises to simply slick the hair back and use some hairspray to achieve the Sade look. For length, the stylist suggests twisting some extra hair into your own hair for a long pony.
Short hair, don’t care!
Social activist and 1970s “It” girl, Bianca Jagger, repped well for the short hair sisters. Kim used Bianca as inspiration for Kelly’s next look, transforming her hair with the help of large rollers for bouncier curls and pins for a faux bob.
French style icon Farida Khelfa Goude’s long and curly cues were sought after in the 80s, just as much as they are today. And with the help of a small curling iron, you can get the look too. Kim took the small tool to Kelly’s hair, creating defined curls that were then pinned and tucked around the face to create the illusion of fringe.” Cute!
Kelly preferred Diana Ross when asked which look was her fav. She also gave some pointers on keeping your hair looking right, sharing, “I use silk scarf! It keeps my hair smooth when I’m sleeping. I also always use a good hair mask.”
Will you be trying any of these looks this season?
